handset and hear the dial tone. If you don’t hear a

inform ation, the US num ber and Ringer Equivalence Num ber (REN) for the
equipm ent. You m ust, upon request, provide this inform ation to your
telephone com pany.

Make sure extension phones are on the hook at the
sam e tim e you're using the phone. It is norm al for
the volum e to drop when additional extension
phones are used at the sam e tim e.
The REN is useful in determ ining the num ber of devices you m ay connect to
your telephone line and still have all of these devices ring when your
telephone num ber is called. In m ost (but not all) areas, the sum of the RENs of
all devices connected to one line should not exceed 5. To be certain of the
num ber of devices you m ay connect to your line as determ ined by the REN,
you should contact your local telephone com pany.

You m ay redial the last num ber you called by pressing
the REDIAL button after you get a dial tone.
Your package should contain the following item s:
A plug and jack used to connect this equipm ent to the prem ises wiring and
telephone network m ust com ply with the applicable FCC Part 68 rules and
requirem ents adopted by the ACTA. A com pliant telephone cord and m odular
plug is provided with this product. It is designed to be connected to a
com patible m odular jack that is also com pliant. See installation instructions for
details.

Make sure you entered num bers correctly. (See
"Mem ory.")
NOTE: The Redial feature holds in memory the last
phone number you dialed (as many as 32 digits). If
you pressed any numbers after dialing the phone
number, (for example, when accessing a voice-menu
system) those numbers also are redialed.

Make sure the telephone is properly installed. Pick
up the handset and listen for the dial tone. If you
don't hear the dial tone, recheck or repeat the
installation steps.

If your hom e has specially wired alarm equipm ent connected to the
telephone line, ensure the installation of this product does not disable your
alarm equipm ent. If you have questions about what will disable alarm
equipm ent, consult your telephone com pany or a qualified installer.
Store as m any as 10 num bers in m em ory for easy
dialing. Num bers can be stored in the num bered keys
(0, 1-9).

Avoid putting it near heating appliances and
devices that generate electrical noise (for exam ple,
m otors or fluorescent lam ps).

IMPORTANT: All numbers stored in Memory will be
erased if the phone line is disconnected from the
wall telephone phone jack for more than five
minutes. Write down any stored numbers you do not
want to loose.
Should your equipm ent cause trouble on your line which m ay harm the telephone
network, the telephone com pany shall, where practicable, notify you that
tem porary discontinuance of service m ay be required. Where prior notice is not
practicable and the circum stances warrant such action, the telephone com pany
m ay tem porarily discontinue service im m ediately. In case of such tem porary
discontinuance, the telephone com pany m ust: (1) prom ptly notify you of such
tem porary discontinuance; (2) afford you the opportunity to correct the situation;
and (3) inform you of your right to bring a com plaint to the Com m ission pursuant

If trouble is experienced with this equipm ent, for

is causing harm to the telephone network, the
telephone com pany m ay request that you disconnect
the equipm ent until the problem is resolved.

ADDING A PAUSE TO THE DIALING
SEQUENCE

Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna (that is, the antenna for radio or
television that is “receiving” the interference).
NOTE: Only one-way conversation is possible in
speakerphone mode. When you are speaking, you
are transmitting. When you are listening, you are
receiving. You can’t do both at the same time. The
phone automatically switches between transmitting
and receiving depending on the level of the voice or
the room noise detected by the speakerphone
microphone.
Reorient or relocate and increase the separation between the
telecom m unications equipm ent and receiving antenna.

Use the REDIAL button to insert a delay in the dialing
sequence when storing a num ber, for exam ple, when
you need to dial 9 to get an outside line.
Connect the telecom m unications equipm ent into an outlet on a circuit different
from that to which the receiving antenna is connected.
If these m easures do not elim inate the interference, please consult your dealer or
an experienced radio/television technician for additional suggestions. Also, the
Federal Com m unications Com m ission has prepared a helpful booklet, “How To
Identify and Resolve Radio/TV Interference Problem s.” This booklet is available
